Step into culture in San Antonio, Texas where the Spanish and Mexican influence on this big, beautiful city is apparent in the town’s architecture, cuisine, art, and events. The famed Riverwalk is lined with fantastic restaurants, and it’s within walking distance of the Alamo, where a historic battle for Texas’ freedom took place.
Hikers looking for a taste of the beauty of the Pacific Northwest might want to consider Portland, Oregon. Families will find fantastic restaurants, spectacular public gardens, museums and fabulous shopping. Don’t miss the serene Japanese Gardens in Washington Park.
San Francisco is incredible, but consider trying San Diego this spring. The beaches are perfect for families, and the zoo, of course, is unparalleled. While you’re at the zoo, take a nice stroll around beautiful Balboa Park. Don’t miss a tour of the USS Midway, a decommissioned aircraft carrier, and be sure to check out Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve.
The epitome of Southern charm, Savannah, Georgia, is a terrific spring break destination. Admire the town’s history, architecture, art and incredible cuisine. Said to be America’s most haunted city, you will absolutely want to take a ghost tour or two.
Cancun, Mexico, is a spring break madhouse, so consider a visit to Panama instead. Visit Casco Viejo (Old Town) in Panama City for a taste of history and charm. Then head to Bocas del Toro for sun and surf, and spectacular encounters with nature.
Consider traveling to Asheville, North Carolina, in the heart of the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains. The historic Biltmore Estate is a must-see, of course, but there’s plenty of other eye candy for architecture buffs. The food scene is incredible, and there’s plenty to see and listen to for art and music fans, too.
The tiny island of Caye Caulker, Belize, has yet to be discovered by the masses of spring breakers. Its slow vibe is appreciated by travelers looking for something a bit more laid back. Most folks get around by bicycle or golf cart and the beaches are beautiful. Visitors can enjoy snorkeling, windsurfing, and kitesurfing.
Skip the crowds at Disney and visit Ocala, Florida, instead. Equestrians, flock to this small town with their horses, as it is known for winding paths lined with stunning oak trees. Clear streams rush through lush pine forests, and there’s zip-lining and kayaking, too.
Stay away from the more crowded parts of the Bahamas, and find spring break serenity in the Exumas archipelago, a chain of islands featuring stunning beaches and incredible snorkeling opportunities. While you’re there, you definitely have to check out the famous swimming pigs!
